Employment litigation can arise in a number of different contexts, including alleged wrongful termination, employment discrimination, sexual harassment or wage and hour violations. These are often complex cases involving alleged violations Federal and State law. Absent an employment contract, for the most part employment in California is considered “at will”, meaning voluntary and indefinite for both the employer and the employee. However, if an employer fails to follow it’s own policies and guidelines in terminating an employee, or commits or allows an employee to be discriminated against or harassed, in addition to monetary damages the employee may also be able to recover stiff statutory penalties from the employer.
